We are hiring - Assistant Coach / Player Coach

In 2021 Haddington RFC has celebrated 110 years of rugby and 50 years of mini rugby. The local community is growing fast and we aspire to play a central role bringing our community together.

We now have a strong, sustainable financial foundation, with excellent facilities including a refurbished gym, extended and refurbished changing rooms and a new physio room. This has generated considerable extra use of the Club at all age groups. An exciting opportunity has arisen to add to this solid base and help drive the performance side of our senior rugby coaching setup, reporting to Head Coach Rhodri Thomas.

We are interested in applications from coaches with recent playing experience, and would definitely consider a player-coach role. This will complement the other experienced coaches we already have in place, Rhodri and Forwards Coach Luis Arola, both of whom are highly experienced and level 3 qualified.

We are a community based rugby club, with predominantly a locally produced squad. Our aim is to continue to develop: our local players, a culture of self-improvement, and maximise the transition of players from our rugby youth sections into senior rugby - to generate success on the field.

Key Objectives of the Role:

• Improve the performance of senior teams
• Ensure training sessions are structured, engaging and fun
• Develop individual and team skills, mindset and understanding
• Lead positive communications and collaboration with all individuals across the structure

Key Skills and Knowledge:

You will have recent playing experience and will either be UKCC Level 2 (or equivalent) qualified or keen to complete that soon. Ideally you will have previous coaching experience and good leadership, communication and motivational skills to work proactively with players, other coaches and the community.
You must be eligible to work in the UK. The successful applicant will be PVG checked and will also undertake training as required for this role including first aid training. Remuneration will be considered as appropriate to the experience of the candidate.

For more information, or to apply please email a cover letter and CV to Donald Snodgrass, VP Rugby HRFC, donsnod@outlook.com; Closing date Friday 23 August 2024
