The 2023 Annual General Meeting took place at Haddington RFC on Monday 22nd of May and it was fantastic to see so many members in attendance, including some new faces this year.
In terms of office bearers for the season 2023/24, we unfortunately lose some great people to the committee. Special thanks to the following people who are stepping down from their roles this year:
1. Firstly, Damian Jones who is stepping down as VP Business. He has had a difficult year with a serious neck problem, on top of his work, travel and family commitments but managed to keep up his coaching work. He had significant surgery last week and touch wood it seems to have gone ok. Thank you Damian and we wish you all the very best for the future.
2. To Mark Morrison and Bob Bathgate who have both served for a number of years on the committee, and who will, thankfully, both stay on the Goatfest Sub-Committee.
3. To Mila Mainstone, who had added her great drive and energy, but with time commitments is stepping back. I am sure she will still be actively involved.
4. Neil Scott is also stepping down, and is also hanging up his touch judge boots and flag, after years of unstinting service. Big thanks and also a big thanks for looking after Josh this year.
The following people have intimated their willingness to continue to serve, so the Committee is delighted to confirm the following people are re-elected:
1. Andy McBain - Honorary Secretary
2. Audrey Paterson - Honorary Treasurer
3. Donald Snodgrass - Vice President Rugby
4. Andrew Durkin - Players Representative
5. Harry Priestley - Minis Convenor
6. Jim Weston - Ordinary Committee
7. Campbell Terito - Ordinary Committee
8. Martyn Wood - Ordinary Committee
9. Gordon Bathgate - Honorary Membership Secretary and Ticket Secretary
10. Ian Clark - Honorary Fixture Secretary
We were also delighted to welcome six new members to the Committee in Colin Stuart, Sarah Logan, Graeme Dykes, Amanda Farrow and Rhodri Thomas.
Unfortunately, after five years at the helm of Haddington RFC, Keith Wallace has decided to step down as President in order to focus on his role at the SRU. We wish Keith all the best for the future and big thank you for all the effort he has given to Haddington RFC. Keith leaves the club with a sound financial base; a very solid base in minis and youth; a more youthful committee and above all a healthy cohort of volunteers. With Keith stepping down, we are delighted to announce that former 1st XV captain and coach, Scott Brownlee was elected to President. In his closing statement Keith said: "It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as President, the first son of a President to do so, and I am delighted to pass the baton to Scott, who becomes the second son of a President to be elected. Great also to see a younger cohort of Committee Members, a very healthy sign."
Finally, with Damian Jones stepping down as VP, we are also delighted to announce that Nick Bell will take on the role of Vice-President next year.
