We are delighted to announce Colin Stuart (aka Chomp) as the new Haddington Rugby Development Manager.

He is very excited by the challenge offered by the role. "I’m really looking forward to help develop the next generation of rugby players in the Haddington cluster. Rugby has given me so many positive experiences and I hope I can help create some lasting memories for all the rugby players in the Haddington cluster", said Colin.

In 2021 Haddington celebrates 110 years of rugby and 50 years of mini rugby. Despite the challenges of 2020, mini participation numbers are growing and there is now the addition of a new primary school to meet the needs of a growing local population.

The role is created in partnership with Haddington RFC, Scottish Rugby and Compass School, and is key to helping the Haddington Rugby Community (which includes Haddington RFC, Knox Academy, and five cluster primary schools namely Haddington, Yester, St Mary’s, Compass & Letham) meet our strategic goals around youth rugby, long-term player development, and community sustainability.

His focus will be on:

  • Driving increased participation at all youth levels inclusive of boys and girls
  • Driving increased performance at all youth levels
  • Collaborating with senior rugby head coach and mini rugby manager to deliver a long term player development programme throughout the community with a particular focus of transitioning into mini, from mini to S1, and from youth players to senior rugby

Bob Snodgrass said “Chomp has played for Haddington since he was in the Minis section, and captained the 1st XV in recent seasons. He has also coached the minis this season. The club is delighted to have someone of his experience and commitment to developing rugby in our community”.
